Exhibition opening: “Women in structural change”

The exhibition “Women in Structural Change,” which opens on March 8, combines regional practice and scientific perspective, portrays committed women, and highlights belonging, scope for action, and equality.

In the Burgenlandkreis district, population decline, infrastructure dismantling, and social challenges shape decisions about whether people stay, leave, or actively shape their region. The women portrayed take responsibility and make the changes they have experienced tangible. The exhibition—a collaboration between the JTC (in particular Hermine Bähr from Team A1 and revier scout Katja Wendland), the Agentur für Aufbruch agency, and regional partners—reminds us that social change is always linked to issues of visibility, participation, and recognition.Together, we would therefore like to discuss the significance of commitment and change from the perspective of those who, as women, (have to) combine the challenges of social change processes in the region with ongoing negotiations on equality.

Launched on March 8, International Women’s Day, the project provides impetus for the subsequent theme weeks and combines regional practice with scientific perspective—a core task of the Just Transition Center.
