„Interoperability regulation in the EU: Opening iOS and Android for Free Software”

From January 31 to February 1, 2026, the annual FOSDEM (Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting) conference will take place in Brussels, Belgium. This year, the conference will feature nearly 1,000 speakers, more than 900 events, and 70 tracks.

JTC will also be participating — Lucas Lasota from Team C1 will moderate a panel discussion on: Interoperability regulation in the EU: Opening iOS and Android for Free Software

The discussion will focus on the European Commission’s recent decisions regarding hardware and software interoperability in Apple’s operating systems. Participants will gain insights into what interoperability under the DMA (Digital Markets Act) means for free software developers and how interoperability solutions are expected to be provided by gatekeeper companies such as Apple and Google.
