SUMMARY:Collaboration for Impact: Working Across Projects\, Teams\, and Networks (part 2/3)
DESCRIPTION:Collaboration is at the heart of turning ideas into impact – especially in regions undergoing transformation. \nThis seminar focuses on how to move from ideas to joint action. You will explore how entrepreneurial thinking unfolds not only individually\, but in teams\, networks\, and real-world collaborations. \nUsing practical examples of both successful and failed initiatives\, we will reflect on what enables cooperation – and where tensions arise. You will develop your own mission statement as a way to provide direction and inspire others\, while gaining hands-on experience in networking and navigating conflicts. \nThrough a combination of theory\, practical exercises\, and reflection you will discover how communication\, trust\, and shared vision become key drivers for creating sustainable impact. \nLecturer: Dr. Claudia Langosch \nRegistration for the seminar series on StudIP. \nTake-aways \n\nUnderstand what drives and blocks collaboration and success\nNavigate complexity and conflicting interests\nDevelop and communicate your own mission\nBuild relationships that create impact\n\nContentStart:What enables collaboration – and why do good ideas often fail in practice? How do communication\, trust\, and shared understanding shape joint action? What typical tensions arise when working with others in complex settings? \nExplore:How do different perspectives and interests influence collaboration? What patterns can we observe in successful and failed projects? How can I communicate my ideas in a way that invites others to engage? What role do relationships\, networks\, and conflicts play in shaping outcomes? \nTransfer:Clarify and articulate your own mission statement.Strengthen your ability to connect\, collaborate\, and navigate tensions.Feel more confident in bringing others on board and turning ideas into impact. \nTarget Audience: Doctoral students and postdocs \nTerms and Applications: \n\nThe seminar consists of 3 appointments and additional online learning modules (workload about 25 SWS). It’s not possible to attend only one appointment.\nApril 17th\, May 8th\, June 5th 2026\, 9 am – 12:30 pm\nFormat: on-site at MLU\nLocation: Weinberg Campus\, Biozentrum\, Weinbergweg 22\, Raum D 2.10 (2. SUMMARY:JTC meets Region: Halle (Saale)
DESCRIPTION:Experience research in practice. Meet our collaboration partners. Come to network.\nIn 2026\, we will continue our successful event series “JTC meets Region”. Our innovation teams’ researchers are now overseeing practical and transfer projects at various stages of development. Together with our regional partners\, we would like to introduce you to these projects and also present project ideas for which we are still seeking implementation partners and supporters. Together with you\, we want to continue shaping the region—and Halle—identifying challenges and needs\, and developing sustainable solutions. True to our motto: Research from the region. For the region. With the region. \nIn addition to the stage program\, there will once again be opportunities for in-depth exchange across disciplines: Earth sciences\, social sciences\, biochemistry\, energy science\, and law. \nWe look forward to your visit! \nFor the programme and registration link\, please visit the German language page of this event.

SUMMARY:Writing Workshop: Hydropolitical Geographies: Critical Perspectives on Water in a Changing Climate
DESCRIPTION:In June 2026\, team A6 of the Just Transition Center will host an international writing workshop on “Hydropolitical Geographies: Critical Perspectives on Water in a Changing Climate.” The workshop brings together around 20 international scholars from human geography and related disciplines to discuss ongoing research on water governance amid socio-ecological transformations. \nWater has become a central site through which the politics of the climate crisis are articulated. It is at once fundamental to human and other-than-human life\, while also increasingly at the centre of conflicts over access\, control\, and distribution. Intensifying hydrological extremes\, unsustainable patterns of use\, and the relevance of water for energy transitions further highlights its contested yet crucial role . Against this backdrop\, the workshop explores how hydrological flows\, water infrastructures\, and more-than-human relations are rearticulated . Bringing together perspectives from political ecology\, hydrosocial research\, and more-than-human geographies\, it aims to advance conceptual debates on how water is governed\, experienced\, and contested in a changing climate. \nThe workshop will feature keynote lectures by Jessica Budds (University of Bonn) and Denisse Roca-Servat (Universidad de Antioquia\, Columbia)\, thematic panels and a field excursion to the Bitterfeld-Wolfen region focusing on “Water and Transformation.” \nThe workshop is organised by Dr. Larissa Fleischmann & Julia Ostertag (Just Transition Center)\, and Dr. Tino Petzold (University of Münster / Goethe University Frankfurt).

SUMMARY:Just Transitions to a Net Zero World: Third Annual International Conference
DESCRIPTION:Durham University’s Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLP) and the European Center of Just Transition Research and Impact-Driven Transfer (JTC) at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg are pleased to announce our third Annual International Conference on Just Transitions to a Net Zero World\, to be held at Durham University on 10-11 September 2026. \nCall for Abstracts is open\nBackground\nUnder the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement a broad theoretical consensus has been reached towards accomplishing – globally – the paths to a Net Zero World. How to implement this consensus at the national level remains a contested issue. The concept of Just Transitions encompasses a wide range of dimensions and perspectives\, reflecting the complexity of global shifts towards more just and low-carbon economy. They include labour-oriented approaches\, integrated justice frameworks\, socio-technical transition approaches\, governance strategies\, and public perceptions of what constitutes a ‘just’ transition. At a time when transition pathways and even their scientific necessity are once again subject to political challenge\, even the already existing just transition commitments are threatened. Our central concern is not merely what climate law and governance promise\, but how these frameworks can be modelled\, enacted and operationalised in practice. \nFirmly grounded in the theoretical work of the first two conferences\, this 3rd edition of our joint conference seeks to move beyond theory and explore the concrete and innovative pathways that translate agreed‑upon changes into practice. We welcome critical\, interdisciplinary and practice-oriented contributions that explore multifaceted pathways seeking to balance social\, ecological and economic aspects of transitions while remaining sensitive to context-specific factors. We invite contributions that engage with the implementation aspects of just transitions\, address the challenge of bridging gaps between theory and practice\, and examine the development of processes that shape transition outcomes. \nConference Themes\nSubmissions may address\, but are not limited to\, the following themes: \n\nJust Transitions to Govern Net Zero Strategies and Sustainable Development\nJust Transitions: Reality or Utopia?\nJust Transitions in Industry and Technology\nJust Transition: For Whom\, By Whom\, With Whom?\n\nAll information on abstract submission and participation can be found on the official conference website: To the conference
