SUMMARY:JTC-Dialog "Pollutions & Solutions"
DESCRIPTION:Pollutions & Solutions – Minimise Risks of Environmental Contamination\, Use Ressources and Shape Change Together\nHow can we better understand and minimise the risks posed by environmental contamination – whilst at the same time developing new approaches to managing contaminated resources? This question is at the heart of the JTC Dialogue “Pollutions & Solutions”. The JTC Dialogue brings together experts from academia\, industry and regional development to pool experiences\, combine perspectives and discuss new approaches to solutions. \nThe aim of the dialogue is to identify specific areas for cooperation between academia\, regional stakeholders and partners from the field in the Central German mining region. \nThe discussion will be kicked off by brief presentations from the worlds of research and practice – covering contaminated site remediation\, resource utilisation and new approaches to collaboration in remediation. \nThe exchange will take place in German. The day’s agenda can be found here: Programm \nAre you interested in exchange and dialogue about this topic and would like to participate in the JTC Dialogue? Please get in touch with Dr. Stephanie Jahn:E-Mail: stephanie.jahn@jtc.uni-halle.de

SUMMARY:Praxis & Perspektiven

SUMMARY:Exhibition opening: "Women in structural change"
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Women in Structural Change\,” which opens on March 8\, combines regional practice and scientific perspective\, portrays committed women\, and highlights belonging\, scope for action\, and equality. \nIn the Burgenlandkreis district\, population decline\, infrastructure dismantling\, and social challenges shape decisions about whether people stay\, leave\, or actively shape their region. The women portrayed take responsibility and make the changes they have experienced tangible. The exhibition—a collaboration between the JTC (in particular Hermine Bähr from Team A1 and revier scout Katja Wendland)\, the Agentur für Aufbruch agency\, and regional partners—reminds us that social change is always linked to issues of visibility\, participation\, and recognition.Together\, we would therefore like to discuss the significance of commitment and change from the perspective of those who\, as women\, (have to) combine the challenges of social change processes in the region with ongoing negotiations on equality. \nLaunched on March 8\, International Women’s Day\, the project provides impetus for the subsequent theme weeks and combines regional practice with scientific perspective—a core task of the Just Transition Center. \nCome on by\, admission is free! \nWhere: JTC-Projektbüro ZeitzNeumarkt 306712 ZeitzWhen: 8. SUMMARY:Book presentation: Environment & Archive: Oppositional Surroundings in the GDR
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Wolter presents his book „Environment & Archive: Oppositional Surroundings in the GDR“\, which examines environmental destruction in the former GDR\, including in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. \nTo do so\, he investigated photographic collections from the Archive of the GDR Opposition at the Robert Havemann Society and from the Stasi archives. In the process\, Wolter traced cross-connections between the concepts of “environment” and “archive” within the historical context of the GDR environmental movement. The result is a media-ecological study in which he brings together different categories of photographic representation and highlights the interface at which the environment is inscribed in photographic images—and at which photographing itself\, in turn\, intervenes in the environment. \nOn December 5\, Wolter will present the book at CITTIPUNKT Berlin. Afterwards\, together with author Luise Meier (Hyphen\, MRX Maschine)\, he will engage in a conversation on resistant ecologies and archived legacies. \nWhere: CittiPunktBrüsseler Straße 36a13353 Berlin \nWhen: December 5\, 2025\, 6 p.m.

SUMMARY:Peer-Workshop: Knowledge transfer – for whom?
DESCRIPTION:At universities\, as well as within general research funding guidelines\, there is a growing demand for transfer-oriented projects to generate concrete societal impacts. \nAs a result\, many academic disciplines have developed new forms of cooperation\, transfer methods\, and practices of translation between science and society. However\, it remains insufficiently understood how scientific and practice-related requirements can be mediated and addressed in day-to-day work processes. \nThis is precisely where the workshop comes in. In a small-scale setting\, spaces will be created for students and academic staff to reflect on existing transfer processes\, their entanglements and constraints\, as well as ideas and visions for political and social change. The aim is to take a first step toward making these newly emerging transfer activities visible and gaining an overview of their forms and challenges. \nThe event is organized by the AK Uni within the context of the Student Council using its own funds\, and is hosted together with the Research Institute for Social Cohesion (FGZ)\, Halle (Saale) site\, and the Just Transition Center (JTC). \nWhere: Francke Foundations\, Building 32\, Lecture Hall (2nd floor)Franckeplatz 106108 Halle (Saale) \nWhen: 5 December 2025\, 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. \nParticipation is free of charge.Registration is possible until 28 November 2025 via this link: https://umfrage.uni-leipzig.de/index.php/644171?lang=de
