SUMMARY:Just Transitions to a Net-Zero World
DESCRIPTION:The Durham University’s Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLP)\, in cooperation with the Just Transition Center (JTC) at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg\, are delighted to announce their joint International Conference on ‘Just Transitions to a Net Zero World’ in Durham\, 9th-10th October 2025.The conference will bring together academics\, policymakers and practitioners to explore just transition pathways to Net Zero amid climate change\, environmental destruction\, biodiversity loss\, geopolitical shifts\, technological disruption\, and systemic inequities. \nBy drawing together interdisciplinary perspectives\, we will address the challenges of conceiving and implementing just transitions to Net Zero. We will use an interdisciplinary lens to determine where our research can have the greatest impact and accelerate the speed of transitions. \nPlease find all information\, including speakers and timeline via this link: Just Transitions to a Net-Zero World \nDownload Full Programme Here (PDF) \nRegister here \n

DESCRIPTION:The sociologist Daniela Ruß (Leipzig University) and the geographer Thomas Turnbull (Max-Planck-Institute for the History of Science\, Berlin) present and discuss their new book “Energy’s History. Toward a Global Canon”. How have people conceptualized\, used\, and politically negotiated energy throughout history? The volume provides new perspectives on the many facets of energy history and its significance in light of current ecological challenges. \nThe book presentation is followed by comments and a discussion with Benjamin Steininger (Cluster of excellence UniSysCat\, TU Berlin) and Alexander Klose (JTC\, MLU Halle\, Team A2). \nDate/Time: 22/10/2025\, 18:15 – 19:45Location: ReCentGlobe\, Strohsackpassage\, Room 5.55Nikolaistr. 6-10\, 04109 Leipzig \nThe GlobeColloquium is a central forum for academic discussion at the Leipzig Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe). It brings together researchers at all career stages – from doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows to senior scholars – as well as external guests and interested students to engage in dialogue on current research.
