Einführung in Legal Tech

What significance does legal tech hold for future jurists? Answers to this question were provided by the introductory event of the LegalTech Lab on 3 December, attended by around 40 students.

Foundations, relevance, and opportunities of legal tech

After a welcome by Dr. Konstantin Branovitskiy, head of the LegalTech Lab, Prof. Dr. Azar Aliyev delivered a 45-minute overview of the foundations, relevance, and opportunities of legal tech as well as the development of the Lab. He explained why technological skills are becoming increasingly important for aspiring lawyers and which opportunities this opens up for legal practice. In addition, the history and evolution of the Lab were presented.

Workshops on AI projects and digitalization in law

The second part of the event consisted of three parallel workshops. Participants gained concrete insights into ongoing projects at the LegalTech Lab: the AI-supported policy generator, a child-support calculator, and the digitalization of enforcement procedures. Students were thus able to experience firsthand what legal tech and legal design mean in practice and what working in the Lab actually looks like.

Positive feedback and commitment to digital transformation

The response exceeded expectations: numerous participants signed up on the spot to contribute to future projects of the LegalTech Lab. The event therefore achieved its goal—sparking enthusiasm for legal tech among the next generation of lawyers while also attracting dedicated contributors to support digital transformation in the region undergoing structural change.
