It researches regional educational and socialization conditions and develops recommendations to reduce social inequalities. The starting point is the structural disadvantage of the region since 1989\/90 due to emigration, ageing and poverty (risk), which is intensifying in the current structural change.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Education enables empowerment and contributes to social transformations. Our focus is therefore both on people&#8217;s living environments and on enabling participation in and through vocational and general (further) education.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We examine the needs in the region and trace possibilities for social and economic participation.
