Vita<\/h2>\n

Jonathan Everts has been Professor of Human Geography at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) since 2018. He previously held academic positions in Sheffield, Bayreuth, Bonn, and Dresden. His research focuses on theories of social practices, socio-spatial transformation, and human-environment relations. Prof Everts is the founding director of the Centre for Just Transition and Sustainability (HALIS) at MLU and director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS). He currently leads two inter- and transdisciplinary research projects on Strukturwandel (just transition) in Central Germany: Agentur f\u00fcr Aufbruch (funded by the STARK programme, in cooperation with Werkleitz Society) and the Just Transition Center (funded by the JTF). Both projects support the mutual transfer of knowledge between the university and the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jonathan Everts ist seit 2018 Professor f\u00fcr Humangeographie an der Martin\u2011Luther\u2011Universit\u00e4t Halle\u2011Wittenberg (MLU). Er war t\u00e4tig an den Universit\u00e4ten in Sheffield, Bayreuth, Bonn und Dresden. In seiner Forschung befasst sich Everts mit Theorien sozialer Praktiken, sozialr\u00e4umlichem Wandel und Mensch\u2011Umwelt\u2011Beziehungen. Prof. Everts ist Gr\u00fcndungsdirektor des Instituts f\u00fcr Strukturwandel und Nachhaltigkeit (HALIS) an der MLU sowie Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrender Direktor des Zentrums f\u00fcr Interdisziplin\u00e4re Regionalstudien (ZIRS). How can local, volunteer-based engagement drive societal transformation and strengthen social cohesion in a region undergoing structural change\u2014and where does it encounter structural limits? <\/div><\/div><\/div>

Loss \u2013 A Perspective on Socio-Ecological Transformation in the City<\/a><\/h3>
Drawing on empirical research conducted among others in Halle (Saale), the project explores the significance of experiences, practices, and sites of loss within processes of socio-ecological transformation in cities.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Stories of Transformation, Spaces of Possibility: Participatory Approaches to Exploring Experiences of Change and Future Imaginaries in Wolfen-Nord<\/a><\/h3>
This participatory knowledge-transfer project develops innovative formats at the interface of research and practice. It addresses a central question: How can diverse experiences of transformation be made visible and brought into dialogue\u2014and how might these conversations generate ideas for socially just, ecological, and democratic urban and neighbourhood development?<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Ambiguous Liminalities \u2013 Emotional Attachments and Socially Contested Potentials of Vacant Spaces in a Structural Change Region<\/a><\/h3>
What happens to buildings that are no longer in use\u2014yet have not disappeared? In regions undergoing structural transformation, vacancy is more than mere dereliction or a promise of capital accumulation: it constitutes an emotional, social, and political in-between.
