Further information

Daniel Wolter is a postdoctoral researcher at the Just Transition Center, where he conducts research on chemical landscapes in the post-mining region of Central Germany. His research examines how contaminated sites from the chemical industry are dealt with as cultural practices in the context of coming to terms with the past and structural change towards the future. Using empirical case studies, ecological damage is analyzed as epistemic and aesthetic formations, in particular regional groundwater contamination in the Bitterfeld-Wolfen area. Ethnographic methods are thereby combined with theoretical approaches from media studies and science and technology studies.
