JTC Halle at the Silbersalz Festival – Innovation Up Close
4. Nov 2025

For the eighth time, the Science & Media Festival took place in Halle – and this year it thrilled around 45,000 visitors, more than ever before. For the first time, the Just Transition Center Halle was also part of the event.

In addition to fascinating exhibitions, films, and discussion panels, the Structural Change Market in the former Kaufhof building attracted many interested visitors. The wide range of interactive activities was also very popular.

Innovation up close

At the joint booth of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), the Innovation Region for Digital Transformation in Care and Healthcare (TPG), and the Digitalization of Plant Value Chains (DiP), the Just Transition Center (JTC) took part for the first time — with a program that made the innovative power driving structural change tangible.

Colleagues from our Team B1 explained the role of soils as carbon sinks. In addition, protein-based adhesives were vividly presented by Team B4, and Team A4 sparked engaging discussions about educational opportunities in transformation regions — drawing great interest from visitors.

A highlight was our quiz on energy and solar cells (Team B5), where children and adults could test their knowledge. The winners were delighted to receive Bluetooth speakers and solar panels — perfectly fitting the theme of sustainable energy.

“Legal Engineers – A Profession with a Future?”

On Friday, our workshop “Legal Engineers – A Profession with a Future?” focused on a career that lies directly at the intersection of law and technology. Colleagues from the Innovation Team C2 “LegalTech Lab” offered exciting insights into the work of legal engineers, who translate complex laws into user-friendly digital applications, thereby enabling everyday access to legal assistance.

Illustrative real-life examples highlighted the great potential of this emerging profession.
