JTC_Oak: Open academic network
We are building an international research network of scholars working on Just Transition themes. We hope to connect research communities to promote academic exchange and cooperation.

Networking with Regions
Undergoing Structural Change

“A map is a tool for navigation. We hope that our map will promote new ways of understanding how to navigate our increasingly fragile world.”

We believe the role of Just Transition research is to investigate social, ecological, and policy ramifications of regions undergoing structural change, especially with regards to the impact of a sustainable and climate-neutral transition.

A map is a tool for navigation, but maps are never value-neutral, even if they claim to represent an objective reality. We are developing a non-proprietary, open-source map that aims to represent scholars working on just transition themes. In doing so, we are hoping to both facilitate contact between academic researchers, and represent a broad diversity of themes covered by just transition research. We hope that our map will promote new ways of understanding how navigate our increasingly fragile world.

Current research activities include:

We are inviting scholars researching just transition themes to contribute to the map. Please write us to be included in the network, or become part of our “Open knowledge network” by filling out your own research profile.

We are organizing entries by branch, discipline, research location, and keywords. We are able to feature a representative photo, short biography, list of publications, links to your website, and audio or video clips.

The map is in development, so please anticipate new entries, and check back to see relevant themes or keywords that reflect your interests.

How to become part of JTC_Oak: Open academic network

We invite scholars engaged in just transition themes to contact us to become part of our network. People invited to contribute to our network are asked to complete a short profile, which will be represented by a color-coded pin on a map. The entire database is searchable by discipline, research location, and one or two keywords. You can read scholarly profiles, research scholars based on their research branch, discipline, or research location, or search our database for keywords.

We also welcome contributions from the community as part of our “Open Knowledge Network.” Any person or entity is able to input their data by clicking the EDIT button at the top right of the screen, and follow prompts to fill out your data. If you would like to be part of this initiative, please get in touch at network (at) jtc.uni-halle.de.
