Postmigrant Perspectives on Just Transition: Transforming Care and Health in Eastern Germany

My dissertation project examines how care and health provision are shaped in peripheral regions of southern Saxony-Anhalt within the broader process of a just transition. Particular attention is given to migration and to the ways in which migration-related expectations and narratives shape the local development of care and health. Using a postmigrant perspective, I analyse the needs articulated by civil society actors across diverse care arrangements and how these needs are negotiated between institutional contexts and everyday networks. The project aims to illuminate how—and at which interfaces—transformation, health, and migration intersect, as well as where gaps in provision and structural blind spots emerge that hinder equitable transformation processes.
