Networking With Regions Undergoing Structural Change
By connecting research communities, we aim to foster academic exchange and collaboration, and to link the expertise within the JTC with international scholars.

We are building an extensive academic research network that deals with the topic of Just Transition both internationally and across the EU. By connecting research communities, we want to promote academic exchange and cooperation and network the expertise within the JTC with international scientists.

As an interdisciplinary team, we bring together scientists working on Just Transition issues as well as resource use, post-mining landscapes, sustainability, energy transformation, deindustrialisation and ecological effects. Our teamwork fosters horizontal and interdisciplinary collaborations and engages local communities through innovative, artistic or multimodal forms of research dissemination. In this way, it should contribute significantly to the development of a specific body of knowledge for dealing with structural change issues in Just Transition regions. In order to promote the visibility and cooperation of knowledge carriers from structural change regions, we are developing an interactive map with network content and participation options. We are developing international academic exchange and conference formats to involve scientists from different disciplines in the network. By connecting academic communities from different fields, we aim to create the basis for long-term co-operation on the social, environmental, technological and economic dimensions of Just Transition regions.
