Von der Nutzung alter Halden bis zur Wiederbelebung der Förderung von Kupfer, Kobalt und Co. – diese Potenzial im südlichen Sachsen-Anhalt kann genutzt werden. Dazu braucht es das Wissen um die vorhandenen Ressourcen, deren Beschaffenheit, Verarbeitung und Recycling. Das ist unser Beitrag zur sicheren und nachhaltigen Versorgung mit kritischen Rohstoffen.

Unser Team untersucht die Beschaffung, Verarbeitung und das Recycling von primären und sekundären mineralischen und metallischen Rohstoffvorkommen, um eine sichere und nachhaltige Versorgung mit kritischen Rohstoffen zu gewährleisten, die Klima- und Digitalziele zu erreichen und die Abhängigkeit von Importen aus einzelnen Ländern zu verringern.

Im Rahmen des Strukturwandels werden Rohstoffe/Metalle benötigt, die für moderne Technologien notwendig sind. Kritische Rohstoffe sind allerdings knapp bzw. konfliktbelastet und global ungleich verteilt. Aber auch bei uns in Sachsen-Anhalt sind kritische Rohstoffe vorhanden. Unsere Forschung zielt darauf ab, unser Wissen über diese vorhandenen Rohstoffe zu erweitern um innovative Ansätze für deren Nutzung zu ermöglichen.
