Last week, a workshop entitled “Ideas for Quenstedt” took place at the Quenstedt Community Centre and Learning Space. The aim was to engage in a dialogue with local residents about future educational programmes offered by the Mansfeld-Südharz District Adult Education Centre (Kreisvolkshochschule Mansfeld-Südharz).
Which courses are of interest? How does the registration process work? What topics would people in Quenstedt like to see covered? – These questions were at the heart of the discussion. Numerous creative suggestions were collected on the ‘wish tree’: ranging from computer courses and creative activities to practical talks.
However, the workshop also demonstrated that the Quenstedt Learning Centre is far more than just a venue for courses. It is a meeting place in a rural area where people can come together, share ideas and shape the future together. Places like this play a central role in strengthening the community and developing local prospects for the future.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the participants and the local supporters – in particular the mayor, Frank Fischer, and Janine Wenschuh, director of the Mansfeld-Südharz District Adult Education Centre. Together with our project partners Mandy Stobbe (Zentrum für Sozialforschung Halle e.V.) and Isabel Müller (Wissenspeicher MSH) , we succeeded in facilitating a lively exchange.
The workshop was an important step towards highlighting the needs of the people of Quenstedt – and towards further developing the potential of the learning space as a place for education and social interaction.
