Jonathan Everts has been Professor of Human Geography at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) since 2018. He previously held academic positions in Sheffield, Bayreuth, Bonn, and Dresden. His research focuses on theories of social practices, socio-spatial transformation, and human-environment relations. Prof Everts is the founding director of the Centre for Just Transition and Sustainability (HALIS) at MLU and director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS). He currently leads two inter- and transdisciplinary research projects on Strukturwandel (just transition) in Central Germany: Agentur für Aufbruch (funded by the STARK programme, in cooperation with Werkleitz Society) and the Just Transition Center (funded by the JTF). Both projects support the mutual transfer of knowledge between the university and the region.
