At the 10th STEM Fair organised by the Arbeitsagentur South Saxony-Anhalt, in collaboration with the IGS “Am Planetarium”, which took place on 13th June 2026, pupils were able to experience over 50 STEM careers and degree programmes first-hand, take part in practical tests, and find out about apprenticeship and work placement opportunities. Also taking part this year were our JTC innovation teams B4 and B5, along with all sorts of experimental equipment.
Together with Martin Schütze, the researchers of tomorrow were able to gain a hands-on understanding of biotechnology by pipetting and centrifuging yeast cells, and also examining them under microscopes.
Torsten Hölscher, on the other hand, focused on electricity and how it is generated for free from the power of the sun: classic physics presented in a practical and child-friendly way.
“It was a resounding success – I hadn’t realised that the children already were so knowledgable,” enthused the physicist, who absolutely wants to participate again next year.
